This exciting, new vision for Communitas will begin in February, 20112.
The statements that follow are generalizations, so there are some wonderful exceptions. However, I can’t escape the belief that they are generally true.
Our nation is locked in a polarized nightmare of paralysis with unsustainable debt, out of control healthcare costs, runaway unemployment rates, and decreasing world influence.
The church is suffering from sexual scandals, shrinking memberships, a perceived loss of relevance, and the ironic reality that many people are unable to make the connection between it and the teachings of Christ.
Our higher educational system, based on a medieval model, is a prohibitively expensive, long-term commitment, unreasonable for many of today’s workers, and questionable in its effectiveness in preparing people for real jobs.
Customer service has become a sadly inadequate, excessively automated, cost-saving, half-hearted, insincere attempt, which all too often, is totally frustrating.
Social service in our nation is difficult to navigate, poorly coordinated, increasing hard to sustain, and locked into a client/provider paradigm that assaults the dignity of those who need the services.
There is a global awakening that many of our societal institutions are simply no longer serving us well. We can and must do better.
The Response
Encourage people who are growing increasingly uncomfortable with the way things are and believe there has to be a better way.
Provide community and insights, inviting people to the table for healthy, solution-oriented discussions.
Make important perspectives and wisdom easily accessible summarizing that information and make it available in small bite-sized chunks.
Focus on themes like helping the church, social service, customer service, and education, and other areas in which we find ourselves in need of some fresh ideas to take us into the future.
Engage insightful authors and practitioners in podcast interviews, complimented by brief audio summaries and written articles.
Think of it as a place for budding visionaries (and anyone else) to find acceptance, community, and insight, as we move into a future full of incredible change and opportunity.
The Request
This vision flows out of my heart and I love doing it. There are some costs for the technology involved and it requires considerable time to research and schedule guests, record and edit podcasts, write articles, market the site, and a bunch of other stuff to make all this really useful and helpful.
So, I need some friends who are good encouragers and ideal people who will spread the word about what we are doing. Frankly, for Communitas Collective and The Collective Podcast to be more than a well-meaning, fleeting, time-consuming hobby, I also need you to support this vision in a financial way.
Let me break down the various ways can sustain the various services of Communitas Collective.
Level 1 supports CC for 1 week = $34/month
Level 2 supports CC for 2 weeks = $68/month
Level 3 supports CC for 3 weeks = $102/month
Please do what you can to fuel this vision of encouraging and equipping outsiders, visionaries, entrepreneurs, and anyone interested in forging a better tomorrow that is characterized by grace, compassion, and creativity.
Please click the PayPal button on the home page and indicate the amount of you gift and if it is a monthly or a one-time donation.
Thanks so much!
Glenn
